THE 5TH MY GAMES IS TOMORROW!

To All Athletes, Parents, Coaches, and Volunteers:

We hope you haven't forgotten that tomorrow, Sunday, October 3rd, 2010, is the day that the 5th Annual Mississauga Youth Games will be taking place at T.L. Kennedy Secondary School! The MY Games Organizing Committee has been hard at work for the past few months and believe us when we say that this year's program is even bigger and better than ever! With more sports, more colours, and more arts/culture programming, how could it not be?!

Don't forget to bring any non-perishable food donation(s) if you can. They will all be going towards the Compass Group.

To all athletes: please remember to dress accordingly! If any parents are interested in staying for the day, we will have activities for you to participate in at our Athletes Village.

Now, the deadline for registration has passed (September 30), but we understand that some kids may find out or decide to join at the last-minute. For any interested athletes who still have not signed up: registration WILL be open on the day of the MY Games -- space is limited though!

Our Twitter page (@M_Y_Games) will be updated periodically throughout the day as the MY Games is taking place, so please follow us if you have Twitter.

See you guys tomorrow! Don't forget to bring lots of team spirit!!

MY GAMES CELEBRATES 5 YEARS OF PLAY!

MISSISSAUGA, ON – October 1, 2010 - Mayor Hazel McCallion will join 300 young athletes, artist, coaches, volunteers and parents for the closing ceremonies of the Mississauga Youth Games (MY Games) on Sunday, October 3, 2010.

Celebrating 5 years of delivering free, fit and fun programming to 1000 and counting young people in Mississauga, the MY Games Organizing Committee is excited to deliver our biggest and largest Games to date.

New to the Games this year is our Title Sponsor: Royal LePage Real Estate Services, the addition of new sport – flag football, a new team colour – orange, the expansion into arts and culture programming, and a new volunteer and coach development program called “MY Leaders”.

“When our athletes, coaches and volunteers are awarded their medals at the closing ceremony, they will be filled with an exhilaration and excitement similar to what we saw during the recent Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.”

“The 2010 MY Games marks the culmination of over 5 years of planning and organizing by an inspired team of people whose efforts have been at times heroic. We have grown from a small team of a few in the early days to a volunteer force of over 100 today.” said Louroz Mercader, Founder and President of the MY Games.

MY Games Closing Ceremony:
Sunday, October 3, 2010 – 3:45pm
Thomas L Kennedy Secondary School
3100 Hurontario Street, Mississauga

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

1.5 WEEKS & COUNTING ...

Dear Athletes & Parents:

Can you believe we’re only a week and a half away from the 5th annual Mississauga Youth Games?! It’s true! If you haven’t registered to participate (or to have your child participate) in the MY Games yet then please REGISTER NOW!

The big day is Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 9:00am-4:00pm.
The MY Games will take place at T.L. Kennedy Secondary School (3100 Hurontario St).

There is only one requirement to be a participant:
The child has to be a Grade 6, 7, or 8 student as of October 2010.

That’s it! It is completely FREE to participate in the MY Games and it’s a great way for kids to have FUN and get FIT at the same time!

------------------------------

To all those interested in volunteering for the MY Games:

If you’re over the age of 16 or you know someone over that age who is interested, we are still accepting volunteers for the MY Games!! It is a great way for high school students to gain community service hours and it’s also great experience for people who are interested in pursuing a career involving kids/athletics. If you’re 19 or older, you may also choose to be a coach instead of a general volunteer.

Just visit THIS LINK to sign up!

------------------------------

To all UTM students:

Representatives from the MY Games will be visiting your school today (September 22, 2010) for the Get Experience Fair on campus between 10:30am-1:30pm! You can sign up there as well if you want to be a volunteer/coach!

Don't delay! There is an important training camp/session that every participant and volunteer has to attend prior to the actual day of the MY Games, so you don't want to sign up when it's too late. Please spread the word as the day is drawing nearer!

20 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE MY GAMES!

We are still looking for more volunteers and coaches for the 5th annual MY Games! APPLY NOW!

Please spread the word if you know anyone 16+ (to be a general volunteer) or 19+ (to be a coach). This experience is GREAT for resumes, especially if you’re going into a field involving children (i.e. teaching). If you are a high school student or you know any high school students that need community service hours, this is also a great place to get some!

Meanwhile, registration for athletes is also still OPEN! REGISTER TODAY!

We always have room for more kids! Anyone in grades 6, 7, and 8 can participate in the exciting MY Games. Remember, the MY Games is completely FREE to join and it gives kids the opportunity to have FUN and be FIT at the same time!

Don’t delay in registering as the training camp days are drawing near. All kids participating in the MY Games are required to attend at least one of these days in order to take part in the big day itself.

If you need a reminder of dates, here you go:
